Instant Kesar Peda

Peda used to take hours to make, as the milk was reduced and thickened on slow heat for hours. Since I promised I am not get any difficult recipes here is an easy dessert for you. It is made with just three main ingredients. Peda is one of the mithais which is made on auspicious occasions and is an offering to Gods. Mathura is one of the cities in India famous for its peda's.

Ingredients
  • 14 floz Condensed Milk (1 can)
  • 3 cup Dry Milk powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Ghee
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • Few strands Saffron
  • 4 or 5 small Cardamom ground
  • Pistachio or Almond Sliced (Optional for decoration)
Instructions
  1. In a small bowl add milk and saffron and heat it in the microwave for a minute.
  2. Add Ghee in the wok.
  3. Add the condensed milk to the wok.
  4. When the condensed milk starts boiling, turn the heat to medium high and add the milk powder. Keep stirring getting rid of the lumps.
  5. After about five minutes add the cardamom powder.
  6. Another couple of minutes add the saffron milk and keep stirring.
  7. Keep cooking this mix for almost another 10 minutes
  8. Once it starts leaving the pan turn the heat off and transfer it to a plate.
  9. When it cools down grease your hands and start making the peda.
  10. Add the slivered nuts if you wish. Ready to eat !!
