Chow Chow / Burmese Coconut Jello

Burmese desert made out of Agar Agar (Kind of like seaweed) available at almost all Indian stores and also the Chinese stores. Agar Agar is vegetarian Jello. It is a very easy desert to make and is very cooling. You could add some food color to make it in different colors, would look fancier to serve at a formal gathering. The cooking time is only ten minutes but it takes five six hours to set in the refrigerator.

Ingredients
  • 17 g Agar Agar stick (Full pack is 1.5 oz, take about 1/4 pkt.)
  • 3 cup Water
  • 1/2 can Coconut milk (Full can is 13.5 oz)
  • 6 tbsp Sugar
Instructions
  1. In a sauce pan take water and sugar.
  2. When sugar is dissolved add agar agar sticks
  3. Let it boil so all the sticks are properly dissolved, then add the coconut milk.
  4. After about ten minutes of cooking take it out in a corning ware and let it set.
  5. Once it is set cut it in pieces and enjoy.
